VRT/Deutsche Bahn – A mini-game for multiple platforms

Given the heterogeneous nature of the intended audience, implementing targeted communications for public transport companies usually poses considerable challenges. For instance, what is the best way to reach young passengers with as little wastage as possible? One answer to this question was provided by hoffmeister & partner by way of a mini-game modeled on the popular Doodle Jump app, which the agency designed and built for the Verkehrsverbund Region Trier (VRT) and the passenger transport division of the Deutsche Bahn.

In addition to programming the VRT-Jumper and Bus & Bahn Jumper versions of the mini-game for Flash, Android and iOS platforms, we also developed the concept and created the in-game and logo design. The mini-game delivers added value to the target audience through the fun gaming experience, while offering an entertaining alternative to traditional image advertising. The game’s protagonist uses buses and trains to bounce high in the air and collect points, which helps to highlight VRT’s convenient transport links. Altogether, the game has been adapted for seven different companies.
